Paving Slab Base Service
We can also provide a supply and slab laying service, meaning you will only have one contractor to deal with and the base will be perfect for your new greenhouse.
As a general rule of thumb, hardcore is not required under the slab base – unless it is freshly disturbed ground e.g. after the removal of a tree.
If the base is going in an area of garden covered by grass, the grass will be removed, the ground levelled, screeded and a good quality membrane will be placed under the paving slabs.

What base does a greenhouse need?
The preferred choice, and the one which we recommend, is a base of flagstones / paving slabs.
Not only is it easy to secure your greenhouse to, if laid correctly, it will provide a solid level base for the safety and longevity of the building.
The base must be level in all directions to allow the building to remain square, avoid stress on the glass and allow the guttering to run correctly.
A slab base also provides the perfect drainage solution, as you won’t get any pooling of water, as they allow free-drainage through the chinks between the slabs.
We recommend getting a professional tradesman to complete this task for you.
